We needed to clearing the many brick and concrete bases for the greenhouses plus the numerous concrete paths that had become buried over 30cm (1 foot) underground.
The best way to deal with the brick greenhouse bases plus the buried concrete paths was a concrete crusher. Here’s some of the input material – the old buried paths.
The big red jobbie is the concrete crusher; it’s fed stuff by the digger and powered by a hydraulic off-take from the monster Takeuchi TL150 skid steer. It quickly reduced the bricks, concrete and other materials down to small fragments.
The crushed material will come handy later as hardcore and for back filling; we also saved the cost of its disposal. You can see the pile of crushed material under the bucket of the digger in the background.
Another issue we had were some enormous tree stumps – most had been milled down to ground level, but one or two were so big that they had to be dug out. This monster took around an hour and left a huge hole!
Finally we began to get the build site in some sort of order, ready for setting out the new house foundations in preparation for digging them.
